UW Election Eye 2012

UW Election Eye 2012 is a partnership of the University of Washington’s Department of Communication and The Seattle Times. It is an on-the-ground blog about the 2012 election season, as seen through the eyes of UW students and faculty.

We seek to provide insight into the lives, ideas and words of the people engaged in Campaign 2012. This includes not only candidates, activists and voters, but also anyone and anything that grabs our attention.

Our focus initially is on the presidential campaign. But we will broaden our field of vision to include Washington state’s gubernatorial, senatorial and congressional races. The blog will run through Election Day.

Our coverage will be part journalistic road trip, generated in places such as South Carolina, Nevada and Idaho, and part hometown, with an examination of the dynamics of the Washington state caucuses.

Throughout we seek to offer voices that are authentic, transparent, fair and engaged. We have no favored candidate or party. But we do unabashedly care — about our ability to have a public dialogue, to understand one another and to build a robust future. These are the prizes that we eye.
